Housing New Zealand appoints suppliers for change programme

Housing New Zealand has contracted Northgate and Oracle as suppliers for a five year programme to help enhance the efficiency of its operations, and improve the delivery of housing services to New Zealanders.

The Housing Innovation Fund for 2010/2011 is open for applications

The Housing Innovation Fund helps community housing providers and Iwi or Maori organisations with funding to build or buy community rental housing. This provides affordable home ownership opportunities for New Zealanders on low to moderate incomes or with special housing needs.

Statement of Intent 2010-13

Housing New Zealand’s Statement of Intent 2010-13: Helping New Zealanders in their time of housing need was tabled in Parliament 30 June 2010. Buying your first home with KiwiSaver

If you are a member of KiwiSaver and have been contributing for three years, there are two home ownership features that are now available.

If you are a first home buyer, you may be eligible for the KiwiSaver first-home deposit subsidy and the first-home withdrawal. Housing New Zealand administers the first-home deposit subsidy, and your provider administers the first-home withdrawal.

If you are a previous home owner, Housing New Zealand will have to determine if you are in the same position as a first home buyer.

Upgrading homes 2009/10

There will be substantial work on state homes throughout 2009/10 from a combination of new and existing programmes. In total, $152 million will be spent on 21,000 homes which will all have some form of upgrade or improvement done on them.

$124.5 million (Jobs and Growth investment by the Government in state homes in February 2009), will be spent on upgrading 10,000 homes around the country and help stimulate economic activity and create jobs in the construction sector. A further 7,000 homes will have energy efficiency work done on them and a further 3-4,000 properties will have improvement work done on them funded from within existing programmes.
